Versailles!

So I’m still uber busy with work, what with our new office space expansion construction finally finishing last week, plus moving into my new office space, plus coordinating the entire office move as well! Whew!

Once the dust settles, then I will be more eloquent about my recent travels. I will be eloquent right now about Versailles.

Versailles is definitely one place that you HAVE to visit when you go to Paris. Your visit will take the whole day as you will need to cover the Versailles chateau, the extensive gardens, the Trianon, and the Petit Trianon. Trust me, you will not regret going to Versailles. Its grandeur and opulence will leave you breathless and gaping ( well, I was gaping at least 😉 ). The chateau is such an excess of beautiful decadence, no wonder the French populace rose up in revolution against the excesses of their rulers. As a brief example, the ceiling picture below is how ALL the ceilings were painted, decorated and embellished in the chateau.

I do also recommend exploring the extensive gardens at Versailles. Its so huge plus so well manicured that it reminded me of the movie “Secret Garden”. Here is one of many spots that I stumbled upon while exploring the Versailles gardens:

Finally, I do recommend renting a bike for exploring the rest of the grounds which are the Grand Canal, the Trianon and the Petit Trianon. You would probably want to rent one anyway after all that walking about. Bike rentals are fairly reasonable, I believe it was 15 Euros for 3 or 4 hours of biking around the estate, along the canals, and on tree-shaded paths, yes!
